At Authentic Beauty, we have a passion for fashion, and what is trending on the catwalks each season. Our professional makeup artists study what the top designers and makeup artists are presenting on the most famous of runways. Then, our expert makeup instructors translate that into wearable makeup and teach you the techniques and tools you need to achieve the most eye catching looks each and every season.
Stand Out is our first Seasonal Look from our spring makeup campaign, SPRING INTO ACTION, celebrating Real Women and Real Beauty and the characteristics that make women so incredible. This look was inspired by the work seen on the runways at Hervé Léger By Max Azria, DVF, Thakoon, and Derek Lam. As a classic bronze goddess, it features a natural bronze eye and a bronzey-gold gloss on the lips that gives you some added shimmer. Our client Kristin was a perfect model for this look.
HOW TO CREATE THE LOOK: STAND OUT
To start, Becca Bussert, lead Authentic Beauty makeup artist, applied Authentic Beauty’s safe and non toxic Magic 3-in-1 Foundation to give Kristin a dewy, natural face. For a light coverage look, she applied the foundation with a Flat Top Foundation Brush. Then, she added a little bronzer under the cheekbone, and finished the face with a soft copper shimmer blush. The colors used on Kristin were Copper Haze and Soft Glo. Becca loves the Angle Cheek Brush for both bronzer and blush application. Use a little mineral face powder to take away shine if necessary.
This eye look was achieved with a golden bronze eyeshadow. Galaxy from Authentic Beauty or our loose mineral shadow stackables are perfect for this!. Before applying the color, use a little face powder to make a smooth canvas on the eyelid. Use a fluffy blending brush for this, like the Squirrel Precision Blender Brush or the Shade It and Fade It Brush.
Next, apply 3 coats of Galaxy eye shadow on a Chisel Deluxe Fluff Brush. This is a dense eyeshadow brush that will fit into the eyelid perfectly. Blend the edges of the shadow with the fluffy blending brush, and then pick up a contour brush like the Angled Eye Brush. Use a very dark brown, such as Burnt or Bark, and apply 1-2 coats in the crease, and down to the outer edge of the lashline.
Blend the edges of this with your fluffy blending brush, so the edges are diffused for that soft, smoky look. Define the eye look with liner and mascara. A dark brown pencil smudged into your waterline will make this look more intense. Also, use the same dark brown shadow on a tiny liner brush like the Taklon Definer Brush and mix it with Eyeliner Sealer liquid. Apply this across the top lashline. Add a generous helping of black mascara. For a finishing touch, use Authentic Beauty’s stack of loose shimmer powders in the gold and the dark brown, and lightly dust them on your eyelid with the fluffy brush.
On the lips, Becca made a custom lipgloss for this look called Mink at Authentic Beauty’s custom blended lipstick station. It’s a bronzey pink gloss with a subtle sparkle and can be worn alone or over a lipstick or lip pencil.
