Holiday 2010 Make-up Look #1-Sugar Plum Fairy

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas: Holiday Look #1 2010-Sugar Plum Fairy

The Atlanta winter weather outside may be frightful, but you & the fire can be soooo delightful. Case in point, even though the weather is awful outside, you can still be the hit of your next holiday party with the four holiday make-up looks from Authentic Beauty. The holiday party season is not the time to go minimal on your make-up. With that in mind, the Authentic Beauty team & I crafted four amazing looks that are right in line with the fall & winter 2010 trends, but have that extra added oomph for the glittery holiday season that starts this weekend! Let the parties begin!

The best party looks focus on the bold eyes & lips, and the Sugar Plum Fairy look is no different. We will see a plummy smoky eye with long, lush lashes. This smoky eye is a twist on the smoky eye trend of the fall & winter 2010 make-up trends. To achieve this look, we use a brown pencil blended out at the upper lashline with a Squirrel Precision Blender brush, topped with Moondust shadow. We then follow this with a smoky plum shadow in the crease of the eyelid, and with liner sealer on top lashline, and a pencil on lower lashline. I always find that a plum smoky eye is bold like a typical smoky eye, but a little different than the norm. Obviously I am a huge fan of the Lash Extensions by Robyn we offer at Authentic Beauty, and totally suggest getting lash extensions if you want to add a little more drama to your overall look. But if you are looking for a more party temporary route, I suggest curling your lashes, swiping on some thickening & lengthening mascara (we like Blinc), letting that dry & curling your lashes again. If you can, stop by Authentic Beauty & let us put on some false eyelashes on the outer corners of your eyes for that extra drama.

As with all make-up looks, we want the skin to be smooth & even. Since it’s winter, I do not suggest a spray tan or using much, if any bronzer. Now I know you don’t want to look sickly pale, but the Snookie look is best left during the summer months when a tan is nothing new. Just focus on smooth, clear, flawless skin. If you have time, schedule an appointment with Amy for a facial to blast away those blemishes caused from holiday stress. But if not, just moisturize well & use our 3 in 1 foundation to cover up anything that’s not normally supposed to be there. Top your foundation with our Dusty Rose blush with will emit a soft, pink glow. The purple/berry lip & eye will balance out the dusty rose color. If you go any darker on the cheek, the colors will start to run together.

Finally for the lip on the Sugar Plum Fairy look, I like a bold plum/burgundy, glossy lip. Wine lipstick with Showstopper gloss on top is spot on to finish off this look. The Sugar Plum Fairy Look goes best with unfussy, relaxed, wavy hair & a hot LBD.  This foxy look will have your man with sugar plum fairies dancing in his head.
