Georgia Center for Child Advocacy

Shopping for A Cause in Support of The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy

Authentic Beauty supports The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) and a portion of the proceed of sales from the event and the raffle at the event, good for a full day of beauty services at Authentic Beauty, will be donated to this private, non-profit agency that champions the needs of sexually and severely physically abused children in our area through prevention, intervention, therapy, and collaboration services provided at no cost to children who reside in or were abused in DeKalb or Fulton County.

From trauma informed therapy services for children and their non-offending family members to case coordination with agencies involved in the investigation of physical and sexual abuse of children and professional training throughout the state for adults advocating and caring for children, The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy also provides a safe, friendly place where a child can end their silence and tell their story of what happened, so that their story is recorded and so that recording can become a piece of evidence for the various law enforcement and care agencies involved in the case.

In addition, through a partnership with Darkness to Light, the GCCA is leading a statewide initiative to educate adults across Georgia to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. By attending one of their training classes, adults can learn how to spot abuse and know what to do when they do see the signs so that as a community we can better advocate for children.

The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy also welcomes donations of in-kind goods and services.  Below is a list of items needed by the Center to help provide the best possible service to the children they serve. The following is in order of greatest need for GCCA:

  • Gift cards to Chick-fil-a, Pizza, Kroger, Publix, Costco, or other grocery stores for emergencies
  • $5-$10 Gas Cards for clients
  • Cases of bottled water
  • Old or new magazines or subscriptions for our vision boards (ie. National Geographic for Kids, Ebony, Sports Illustrated for Teens, Highlights, Heart & Soul, Animal Planet)
  • During holidays, we collect new throw blankets, fidget items and kits to give to our families in great need.
  • Check out their Amazon Wish List here to easily purchase items they need and have it mailed directly to GCCA.
