Headshot= Your Professional Image

Headshot Make-Up: Your Professional Image

I have been a makeup artist for over 20 years. Throughout my career one of my biggest pet peeves is seeing a picture of a dynamic, powerful woman that does not portray her as such. I have seen a few doozeys in my time. I don’t want to embarrass anyone so I won’t give any specifics.  Your headshot is the most powerful tool you have to communicate who you are in your absence. And no, a Glamor Shot from 20 years ago does not count.

What we believe at Authentic Beauty is that your image should be a reflection of your Authentic Self. In my experience most of you don’t know what that looks like. And if you don’t know, who does? That’s why most people don’t like their image in the mirror-98% in fact AND most of you HATE your picture…..and we live in the digital age. It is more important than ever-ESPECIALLY if you are in business for yourself that you have images that truly capture who you are.

Authentic Beauty is committed to you loving what you see when you look in the mirror AND in your picture! If you have not discovered the Image Journey Self Discovery Makeup Lesson, maybe it’s time you did. Read more about it here. Don’t you owe it to yourself to take a little bit of time to look your best? It doesn’t take a lot of time. It takes having a plan. It’s like grocery shopping….if you know what you are going to eat for the week and make a list ahead of time, shopping is a breeze and it takes less time overall.

Your headshot is your introduction. It absolutely needs to be spot on and that means a representation of you, your brand. When someone looks at this image they need to be able to get who you are. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about communicating your essence and if that’s not done effectively, you have wasted your time and money.

Being a female entrepreneur, I started working with Ladies Who Launch (LWL) Atlanta to help Authentic Beauty as it was in the beginning stages. LWL is such an incredible resource for women who are either thinking of launching a business or who already have a launched a business. The organization provides such incredible support and advice for women entrepreneurs.

I was asked  to sit on a panel at an event for Ladies Who Launch discussing the importance of your Headshot and Bio. Each one of the panel members shared stories of this process gone wrong-not to mention the audience.

On March 12, Authentic Beauty is taking part in “Ow to Wow,” an interactive bio and headshot clinic where you can work with a professional writer to craft the perfect biography, and get a new headshot by a professional photographer where in that headshot your CEO Authentic Self will shine through! Whether you are going the DIY route or hiring professionals, you’ll want to know how to prepare to communicate your brand though your photo and bio. The event will take place at the Authentic Beauty Salon and Studio on March 12th from 9am-2pm. .Call or email Stephanie for more information at 404-849-0443 or [email protected].
